Advocating for Progress in Oral Health
At the West Virginia Dental Hygienists’ Association (WVDHA), we are proud to advocate for legislation that uplifts the dental hygiene profession and improves access to quality oral care. Through our partnership with the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA), we provide the resources, tools, and opportunities you need to take action and stay informed.

WVDHA Public Policy Agenda (2026–2027)
The West Virginia Dental Hygienists’ Association (WVDHA) advocates for policies that promote public health, protect communities, and strengthen the dental hygiene profession. Our 2026-2027 Public Policy Agenda outlines the top priorities guiding our legislative and advocacy efforts this year.
Legislative
The focus of WVDHA legislative activities over the past five years remains on Educational Advocacy day held at the legislature.
In 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 dental hygienists and dental hygiene students from BridgeValley Community and Technical College, West Virginia University, and West Liberty University joined to participate in an Educational Advocacy Day.
Attendees were provided an overview of the legislative process and earned basic lobbying skills from a variety of healthcare and governmental relations professionals. Also, participants have had the opportunity to witness the reading of a proclamation for Dental Hygienists’ Day. This year's reading was done by Senator Dr. Takubo.
The event this year was sponsored by The West Virginia Dental Hygienists’ Association
